He emigrated to the United States at age 18 with his brother Anton, age 26, on the S.S. St. Paul, ®2856which left Southampton on 14 May, and left Havre, France on 15 May 1910 and arrived in New York City on 22 May 1910. ®2852 He arrived in Virginia, Minnesota, on 25 May 1910. ®2862 In 1912 he was a mucker at the Norman iron ore mine, Virginia, Minnesota, and boarded with his brothers Anton and Peter at the Joseph and Mary Matkovich residence at the Commodore Location in Virginia. In 1917 he was a laborer with his residence at 106 Second North, Virginia, Minnesota. On 5 Jun 1917 he is an Austrian citizen, living at 120 Third Street South, Virginia, with his brother Peter and working as a miner for Corrigan McKinley in Virginia, Minnesota. He is single, of medium build and height with grey eyes and light hair. ®36 In 1917 he moved to Willard, Wisconsin with his brother Peter to farm near their brother Martin Matkovich, on land between Dechman’s and Crotzer’s ®2862. He bought the NW 1/4 NE 1/4 Section 22, Township 26 North, Range 3 West Clark County Wisconsin on 16 August 1920 and sold it 4 days later on 20 August 1920 to his brother-in-law, John Tomazin. John Tomazin sold it on 30 April 1946 to Gerald A. Crotzer. By the time of his marriage on 16 May 1921 (at age 30) he had moved back to Virginia, Minnesota, where he was a miner ®2852with the Oliver Iron Mining Company, with their residence at 119 South Sixth Street, Virginia ®2852 (the same address as brother-in-law John Tomazin in 1917). In 1923 he was 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. On 20 February 1926 he became a naturalized United States citizen in District Court, St. Louis County, Minnesota (Certificate #2267443). In 1928 they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and he worked as a moulder in a foundry for 30 years. ®2862 His last address was 2332 South 85th Street, West Allis, Wisconsin. S.S. #388-09-8413. He had pulmonary tuberculosis and died of bronchogenic carcinoma with cerebral metastasis. ®2860 Certificate of Naturalization No. 2267443 was issued 20 February 1926, in St. Louis County, Minnesota.
