She was the orphan daughter of Jeremiah Lamar under the guardianship of Zachariah Lamar as of 12 May 1817. (Baldwin County, Georgia, Minute Book 1812-1819 p. 229)

MARRIED. On Thursday the 24th ult. by the Rev. Edmond Shackleford, Mr. John S. Wright, of Putnam county, to Miss Lavinia Lamar, of Milledgeville. She was estranged, but probably alive on 30 Nov 1826, when John S. Wright, in his will, says "I give to my wife Livinia five dollars and no more as she has long since separated herself from me." She contested the will on the grounds that he was not capable to make a will, but did not succeed. ®1974

He was "of Putnam County" when he married in Baldwin County on 24 September 1818. ®5036On the 1820 Putnam County census he is 16-26, his wife is 16-26, there are no children and there are 2 free colored. ®5035 He moved to Baldwin county between 1820 and 1826. At his death in Baldwin County in 1826 he left his entire estate (very small) to his brothers and sisters, so presumably there were no children. ®1974
“In the name of God Amen, I, John S. Wright of the County of Baldwin and State of Georgia being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory knowing the uncertainty of human life think proper to make and ordain this my last will and testament. And first I commend my soul to God and my body to be decently buried by my Executors and friends.
I give and bequeath to my friend William Stephens my riding horse. I give to Mrs. Marth Dent wife of Walter Dent one hundred dollars and further my will and desire is that my Negroes say one Negro woman and five children together with all my Goods and Chattels, rights and credits consisting in notes, cash, accounts and some dry goods shall be equally divided among and between all my brothers and sisters with this exception that the distributive shares of my brother Thomas Wright and my sister Elizabeth Marshall shall go to their children the lawful heirs of their bodies and further my will is that the division of my Negroes shall be so arranged that they shall be kept together.
I give to my wife Levina Wright five dollars and no more as she has long since departed herself from me. Lastly I nominate and appoint my two brothers James Wright and Mathew Wright Executors to carry into effect this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six.

He lived in Baldwin County at the time he signed his will on 30 November 1826, but the appraisal of his estate occurred in Jones County, Georgia, and included $933.18 in notes owed him, and cash.

Mathew Wright, co-executor, sold the following items from his estate in 1827; William Wright, one lot of goods, a feather bed and furniture for $310; Mathew Wright, a man's saddle for $5; Priscilla Wright, a trunk for $2; Stephen Wright, a horseman's pistol for $5; L. Lamar of Clinton, Jones County, 5 negroes, to wit, Maria and her four children Sam, Jane, Martha and Rupell for $1210.
Research
Was Martha Dent (Mrs. Walter C. Dent) a sister or aunt? She was willed one hundred dollars so must have been close to John. Walter was a witness to the will.
