In 1850 he is a 19 year old single clerk living with the William F. Wright family in Milledgeville. ®4934 He enlisted in Marietta, Georgia and served in Company 2 of the 37th Georgia Volunteers from 1862 until the close of the Civil War and was discharged on 26 April 1865 at Greensboro, North Carolina. “Military Service: Confederate States of America Company I, 37th Georgia.” ®3249 He, wife Mary Anna, and daughters Alice E., Mary A., and Hattie T. were living at the Milledgeville Hotel on 15 June 1870. He was a bookkeeper. The value of his real estate was $800 and the value of his personal property was $150. ®5174 He died about 1876-1878-1880 from age and poverty. ®5179

She applied for a indigent widow's Confederate Pension on 20 June 1906, while living in Milledgeville, at which time her three daughters were alive, two of whom were married. ®5179
