He became a member of the Congregational Church of South Hadley in May 1819. In 1827 he married Dorcas Goodman who died in 1828. He was still living in South Hadley at the time of his marriage to Lucy Tinker in Chester in May 1830. ®6967 He and Lucy then settled in Hinsdale where their first six children were born and then moved about 1838 to Pittsfield, where their last child was born 25 June 1839. Lucy died 15 August 1839 and in June 1840 Cotton married Experience Lawrence in Pittsfield. He and Experience then moved to Dalton, Massachusetts. ®212 They settled in Geneva, Wisconsin. ®408 On 1 June 1860 Cotton is a 65 year old farmer in Geneva, Wisconsin, living with Experience, 60, Reuben T., 29, Edward L., 26 and William, 25. ®6978On 1 June 1870 Cotton, age 70 was farming in Geneva, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Living with him were Experience, 70, Edwin 36, Jane, 24, James, 11 months and Reuben, 39. William married in 1867 and left home. ®6969Cotton died in 1875.
