Notes for Dwight Millington MOODY
He took over his father-in-law's farm in near Buffalo Hart, Illinois in 1967 and primarily grew corn and soybeans. Their address was 7388 Prairie School Road, Route 1 Box 103, Riverton, Illinois 62561. He inherited his father's portion of the original Arnold E. Moody property on Big Sand Lake at Dorset, Minnesota . Corn and soy bean farming allowed he and Mary to spend the month of August each year at their home on Big Sand Lake. He retired from farming during the winter of 2004-2005.

“Dwight M. Moody, 75, of rural Riverton passed away the morning of December 25, 2009, at St. John's Hospice. He was born in Aledo, Illinois, on December 31, 1933, to Alexander Dwight and Clarice Addy Moody. He married Mary Cooper on September 13, 1959, at Buffalo Hart, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Dwight attended school in Aledo, Illinois and Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in agriculture and a master's degree in geology. He was employed by the United States Department of Defense and worked in Kansas City, Missouri from 1960 to 1967. He farmed in the Buffalo Hart area from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. Dwight was a member and elder of Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church and a member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of rural Riverton; daughters, Anita Brown of Springfield and Julie Hatten of Bloomington, Illinois; a son, Paul Moody of Cornland, Illinois; 5 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several cousins. Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen, Springfield, Illinois where visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church. Interment at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church.”

She likes to fish, having learned from her father . After Dwight’s death in 2009 she moved to 425 Thrush Court, Sherman, Illinois 62684-9588 217-496-2628. She spends summers at their cabin on Alexander’s share of the original Moody property on Big Sand Lake, Dorset, Minnesota.
