Misc. Notes
According to son Ernest Charles S, Theodore grew up on a farm in Georgia that was burned during General Sherman's Civil War march to Atlanta. Theodore was taught to play the piano by his father, who was a music teacher.
According to son, John Hannah S, "I heard my father play the piano for many hours. During the depression, he was offered $50 a week to play one hour, five days a week, on the radio. He turned it down because of a studio audience.
"My father loved his piano and was never happier than when he went into a room and played by the hour. He was rather nervous and disliked playing for any one.
