I can find 3 Maria Lovsin’s in Ely, Minnesota, so see note below.

1) She emigrated to Ely, Minnesota in 1895 and boarded as servant with John Matkovich , in which case she could be Johanna Loushin’s sister.
The 1 June 1900 U.S. Census lists Johan Matkovich as a miner who lived with his wife Johanna Loushin, and no children in a house he owned with no mortgage in the First Ward, City of Ely, Minnesota. Also living with them as boarders were Johan’s brother Joseph Matkovich, single, age 21, born April, 1879 in Austria ; Mike Bronskella, single, age 27, born June, 1872 in Austria; Louis Lovshin, age 30, born April, 1870 in Austria and he emigrated in 1899; and a domestic servant, Mary Loushin, age 14, born February 1886 in Austria . On 1 June 1900 127 Mary Loushin is single, 14, born in February 1876 in Austria, emigrated in 1895, is a domestic servant and can read, write and speak English.

or 2) went into domestic service in Slovenia, and emigrated to Ely about 1925, married a widower and died childless in the 1930’s.

or 3) On the 18 April 1910 U.S. Census John Matkovich owned his home on Camp Street in Ely, Minnesota and lived there with his wife and 4 children. In the house next door lived Frank Loushin, 26 and his wife Mary, 17, both born in Slovenia.

or 4) never left Slovenia.
