She was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and grew up in Willard, Wisconsin. She moved to Washington in 1955 and was a resident of King County for 42 years; she lived on Mercer Island and later moved to Bellevue. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Safeway Company. She was an avid golfer. 257

John was born on 7 October 1911 at the Lone Jack Location of Missabe Mountain Township. . He was about 3 years old when the family moved to Willard, Clark County, Wisconsin. His early life was spent in Willard, then he moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and in 1955 moved to 69 Bellevue, Washington where they lived until 1988.124 He was an electrical engineer, having worked for Northern States Power Company until 1955, then with Puget Sound Power & Light Company, Bellevue, Washington, until retiring as assistant superintenent of Light & Power in 1973. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps in the Pacific during World War II. 257 In 1988 he developed Alzheimer’s disease and was transferred to Waukesha, Wisconsin to be nearer his sister Marie Rauen who was his guardian and lived in Burlington, Wisconsin.69 He took the T out of Matkovich . His date of birth was 7 October 1911 69

John E. Matkovich, 83, Westmoreland Health Center, Waukesha, formerly of Willard, Clark County, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1994, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 8 A.M. on Saturday, Dec. 17, 1994, at St. Mary s Good Shepherd Chapel, Burlington. Interment will be at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery, Willard.
John E. Matkovich was born on Oct. 7, 1911, in Virginia, Minn., to Martin and Theresa Matkovich. He was a retired electrical engineer, having worked for Northern States Power Co., until 1955, then with Puget Sound Power Light Co. in Bellevue, Wash., until retiring as asst. Supt. of the Light Power in 1973. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater. For the past five years, He had resided in Waukesha.
Survivors include two sisters, Ann Gnader, Dallas, Texas and Marie Rauen, Burlington one brother, Martin Matkovich, Stevens Point, his former wife, Albina Oblack Matkovich, Bellevue, Wash. and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Louis Matkovich and one sister, Emelia Bertrand.
McCarthy-Koenig Funeral Home, Burlington, assisted the family with arrangements.
