He sailed from Ipswich in the ship “Francis” in 1634. He was an original proprietor of Hartford, then removed to Northampton, where he was ordained deacon in 1633. He was a representative to the General Court five years from Northampton and one from Hadley. He was on the committee for Northampton at the Second Settlement.
®214 They had 3 sons and 5 daughters. Hartford was a Dutch trading post in 1633. It was settled as Newtown in 1635 and renamed Hartford in 1637. The family moved from Hartford, Connecticut to the wilds of Northampton, Massachusetts in 1654 or 1655.
