Notes for Philip “Pit” J. (Spouse 1)
He was the first of their children born in Bayfield, very soon after his mother and siblings arrived from Bay City, Michigan, to join his father and brother Eugene. He was unmarried and lived in Bayfield, Wisconsin at the time of his father’s death on 11 June 1908. 721On 1 April 1930 he was single and lived with his mother Louise, his brother Ernest and his widowed sister Beatrice and her four children in a house Beatrice rented for $12 a month on Broad Street in Bayfield.1036 He owned Louise/Beatrice’s home on Highway 13 in Roy's Pointe-- from at least 1942 until he sold on 31 July 1973. It was a white clapboard home with the front two rooms made into a convenience store. It became The Outpost bar until it was sold to Bob Davidson in the 1980’s. It was then moved north on Highway 13 to make way for the present entrance to the Roy's Pointe Marina, and enlarged and became what in 2014 is still Peterson’s grocery store in Red Cliff. He was a partner in LaPointe Brothers Fishery in Bayfield for many years with his brother Ernest. In 1973 they moved to a new house he built at 19 East Sweeny Avenue in Bayfield. He had a stroke on 20 June 1978 and died in the hospital in Washburn four days later.243 GPS coordinates of his gravesite are Map datum NAD 27 UTM Zone Conus 15 T 0665406 Easting 5186809 Northing.
