He worked for the Pioneer Creamery, Hunt's Dairy, and the Central Baking Company before entering the Army on 16 Nov 1942. He was married and he and his wife lived at 611 Harrison Street, Black River Falls, Wisconsin at the time he entered the Army. He was a Private First Class, 30th Infantry, 3rd Division, United States Army when he was killed in combat in Sicily. He was interred at the Paestrum-Mt. Soprano temporary military cemetery until his remains were returned in 1948.
