He emigrated from Norway in 1880.768 The lived in Minnesota in October 1885 when their first child, Gunda, was born. By 17 Dec 1887 they had moved to Wisconsin for the birth of Ben, and their third child, Anna, was born 19 January 1890 in Menomonie, Wisconsin. They lived in Ashland, Wisconsin from at least 26 February 1896 when Louis was born until his widow Clara died in 1957. On 1 June 1900 Axel and his family lived at 122 Sixth Street West, Ashland, Wisconsin. Axel was a 39 year old car repairer for the railroad and had not become a naturalized citizen. Living with him were his wife Clara, 30, Gunda, 14, Ben, 12, Emma 10, Carl 8, Louis 4 and Ida, 2. 768 On 1 June 1905 they lived in Ashland with three additional children, Clara , 4 Emelia, 2, and Rudolph, 2 months old. Emma is now spelled Anna. 1435 On 15 April 1910 Axel, 49, and his family lived at 1162 Fifth Avenue in Ashland, Wisconsin. Axel had become a naturalized citizen since 1900, but his wife had note, and he still worked as a car repairer for the rail road. Louis is now called Lars, Clora is Clara, and Louise, age 3 and Ruth, age 1 have been added to the family.770Axel had four sisters and three brothers who were all deceased by 1973.
