He was willed five shillings in the will of his father, Dionysius, of 20 March 1780. 485He was a Planter from the Edgefield District of South Carolina. Meshack Wright was certified as a refugee soldier by Colonel William Candler. He received a bounty land grant in Washington, County, Georgia. 485

The will of his brother Albert of 1794 mentions his brothers Abednego, Meshack, Shadrack, Isaiah, Habakkuk, and his sisters Charity Shultz who later married a John Cotton, Peace Brown who later married Abner Willingham, Naomi Mims, Concord Hamilton, and Elizabeth Penny Tindall.

Will of Meshack Wright

In the Name of God Amen I Meshack Wright of the state of South Carolina & District of Edefield Planter do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz, First I give and bequeath to Lud Harris, Sen. five Shillings in full for his share of my Estate Secondly I give and bequeath to Lud Harris Jun. Son of my Daughter Sarah One half of all my Personal Estate during his natural life and Should he died propest of living lawfull issue to him and his heirs forever. Thirdly I give and Bequeath to Dionecious Genn. Wright son of Ann Zenn all my lands and the Remaining half of all my personal Estate during his Naturall life and Should he die popest of living lawfull issue then to him and his heirs forever. Fourthly my desire is that if eighter Lud Harris Junr. as Dionicious Zinn Wright eigther should die without living lawfull issue then it is my desire that the Surviving one shall have the whole of my Estate and if they both should die without living lawfull issue then my desire is that there shares shall go to the Male heirs of Habackeech Wright dec’d - and be equally divided amongst them to them and their heirs forever Fifthly also it is my desire that my ___ him my Negroes at private hire and to such persons as they may think proper and that the will sell at publick Auction any part of my Stock and household furniture that they may think best and that where the legatees come of age that my Exec. divide to each as the will directs. Sixthy I nominate and appoint my trust friends Casper Nail Senr. John Miller and Dionicious Zenn Wright to my sole and lawfull Execr and also Guardens to the legatees and that no legatee shall have it in there power to chose a Guardeen nor the Court to choose for them in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and annexed my seal this 1 day of June 1814---
