He was alive at the time of the probate of the will of Abednego Wright, Sr. of Hancock County of 6 Dec 1824. In 1825, Abednego, and James N., probably sons of Abednego had 333 acres each on the Oconee River. In the 1820s Abednego Wright, Jr., and his brother, James N. Wright were in the 14th Regiment 10th District Militia of Hancock County. Lt. Abednego A. Wright was appointed to serve on the Court of Enquiry for the 14th Regt. G.M. held in Sparta 25 March 1827 He lived in the 104th district of Hancock County on 31 March 1827 when he won District 29, Lot No. 39 in Lee County in the 1827 land lottery.
The 1840 United States Census is the first census for Baldwin County on which he is found, having moved from Hancock County. On the 1840 Census he is aged 40-50 and lives in Milledgeville, Georgia, with one white female aged 70-80, one 20-30 year old white female and with one son 5-10, one daughter under 5, one 5-10, and two 10-15.1791 In 1860 he lived in the Scottsboro District of Baldwin County, with his wife Penelope, age 50, born in Georgia. He was a farmer with $1000 value of real estate and $500 valuation of personal property. He was 65 and born in South Carolina. There were no children at home.360

On the United States Census of 1840 for Baldwin County there are four heads of households; Abednego Wright , William Wright , John H. Wright , and Thomas Wright .
