Notes for Samuel (Spouse 1)
He was Sarah Smith’s third husband. 146He is said to have lived with Simeon Alexander in Northfield in 1753, where he probably married, and removed soon after to Granby, Massachusetts. He remained there and in South Hadley, Massachusetts, until about 1770, pursuing his trade of blacksmithing, to which his sons were brought up, and then removed with his family to Ashfield, Massachusetts, where he bought 400 acres of land, and they all went to farming. Gad, however, continued to work at his trade until his death. For his second wife he married widow Sarah Standish, nee Smith,* born 24 August 1738, in South Hadley, Massachusetts. He died 1818 in Ashfield, where he and his wives are buried. His children were born, Gad in South Hadley, Keziah in Ashfield, and the rest probably in Granby. 358 Also see357
