He settled in New Hartford. His share of the property in Hartland, it seems, did not present a sufficient inducement to undertake a settlement, where then was not yet any permanent inhabitants. Accordingly, he chose a residence with the Colony, which had been lately planed [sic] at New Hartford. Here, he settled at the time of his marriage or soon thereafter, but he was not long permitted to enjoy the homestead [sic], he had laid out. He made his Will, Dec 25, 1746, being at that time ‘sick and weak of body.’ He bequeathed to his wife Sarah, personal property and lands. ‘to his son, Ebenezer 50 acres of land, lying on Town Hill’ - to Susannah’, ‘housing stuff and land’, this last, however made conditional. The Will was proved Apr 16, 1747”
