He served in the U. S. Navy. He worked as a core machine operator in Chicago for 10 years. He then moved back to his dairy farm in the Town of Keystone for 20 years and worked as A.A. mechanic for Tomlinson Construction Company for over 10 years, retiring in 2000. He was also co-owner/operator of Wallen & Sons Trucking Company. He lived at 45408 Wilson Road, Ashland, Wisconsin at the time of his death. His funeral was held at Frost Home for Funerals in Ashland on Monday, 20 November 2005, with internment in the spring of 2006.257
