Mrs. Joan Schwarten, of Knollwood Drive in Saukville, passed away at her residence on Monday morning, October 16, 2006. She was 68 years old. The couple lived in Thiensville for many years before moving to Saukville in 1995. Mrs. Schwarten had worked as a nurse?s aide at Mequon Care Center before becoming disabled. She enjoyed crocheting, watching movies, talking with friends and family and was an avid reader. Mostly, she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Stanley C. She is the loving grandmother of 21 grandchildren: Todd , Peter, Mary Kelley, Sarah, Nicholas, Rachel, Jeremy, James, Marcel, Gianna, Theresa, Luke and Emily Schwarten, Michael, Harold and Ragina Ruby Johnson, Danielle and Tony Lester, and Dnison Penndragon II and the great-grandmother of Alexis and Chloe Schwarten as well as two more special little ones on the way. She is also survived by her sister Ellen “Bubbles” Snitko of New Port Ritchie, FL, her brother Vincent Anderson of Desert Sands, CA, 3 sister-in-laws: Suzanne Bruss of Oconomowoc, Grace Bacon of Ontario, Canada and Diane Schwarten of Shorewood. She is further survived by nephews Dean Paulcheck of McHenry, IL, Mike Paulcheck of Pardeeville and niece Pam Carlson of San Gabriel, CA. Joan is preceded in death by her parents Ruby and Elmer Nennig and her father Vernon Anderson. “St. Joan” will be sadly missed by her card-club buddies and all of the loving friends and relatives who attended the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary party on October 13th. Thank you for making that night the best ever! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, October 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 145 Church Street, Saukville.
