“He enlisted as a Sergeant on 12 October 1861 in Company D, 4th Cavalry Regiment, Wisconsin. Mustered out 28 May 1866. ®73On 1 June 1870 he was a 36 year old farmer in Geneva, Wisconsin, living with his father and stepmother and his wife Jane, 24, and their son James, 11 months. His farm was valued at $2000 and he had a personal estate of $375. His brother Reuben, 39, lived with them and farmed an area with a real estate valued at $2000 and personal estate of $375. ®6969 On 1 June 1880 he is a 46 year old farmer in Lyon, Wisconsin, living with his widowed mother, Experience, 80, his wife Jane E., 33, and children James C., 10, and Etta E., 8. ®7171
