Williams was a 64 year old lead and silver miner who lived with his wife of 16 years, Lydia, age 51 and their daughter Helen, age 15, in Santa Monica, California. James’ father had been born in Ohio and mother in Massachusetts.1579 On 18 September 1924 he was admitted to the Pacific Branch of the National Hospital for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California. On admission he was 77, born in Ohio, 5 feet 4 inches, light complected, with light brown eyes and gray hair.
