Twenty eight May seventeen hundred and seventy five [28 May 1775] by we, undersigned vicar priest of Quebec, was baptized Alexandre [MacKay] born on this day of the legitimate marriage of Alexander Macaille [MacKay] and Angelique Girouard [error by priest/should read Desmolier] his wife. The godfather was Rene MacDonald and the godmother Marianne Desmolier wife of Joseph Girouard who have signed with us. The father, therefore...

“2. Alexandre MacKay , was born/baptized Catholic in the Basilique Notre-Dame de Quebec Church, on 28 May 1775 [15]. Alexander MacKay , at 35 years of age, was married on 30 April 1810, in the Bonaventure Catholic Church [16] to 29 year old Rose LePage , the daughter of Jean-Baptiste-Michel LePage and Rose Arsenault . Alexander MacKay and Rose LePage, along with their children, resided in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada, on land inherited [17] from his father Alexander MacKay , who had petitioned the Crown in 1778, from Berthier , Quebec, Canada, for a Land Grant [18] in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada, as a reward for his service to the Crown during the Seven Years War . Unfortunately, Alexander MacKay died before ever having set foot in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada. was also married a second time on 07 August 1827, to Anne Lane , widow of Hector Morrison , in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada. There were no children from the union between Alexander MacKay and Anne Lane). Alexander MacKay died when he was 81 years old, on 14 March 1857, [19] and was buried with his first wife Rose LePage in the Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery, Bonaventure, Quebec, Canada.

In the Index, we find listed Alexander McKay , on Page 466 in Microfilm Reel C-97, along with his sister Angelique McKay, on Page 466, also listed in Microfilm Reel C-97.

Alexander MacKay , in 1778, from Berthier , Quebec, Canada, petitioned the Crown in a Land Grant application by stating the following written words: "I, Alexander MacKay, former Soldier and Sergeant of the 78th Regiment, Clerk-Merchant-Vendor residing in Berthier, Quebec, Canada, do hereby petition the Crown to make a request for a Land Grant in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada. [Signed on this day]... 1778. [Signed by]: Alexander MacKay". Same as reference source no. 22. [Note: Since he was a former Sergeant, he was entitled to 200 acres of land, which was later inherited by his family].
