From 1806 my ancestors were in the brewery business in Newmarket. And from 1829 through to 1896 they operated 5 pubs in Newmarket’s Rookery where there were 27 active pubs to be found in 9 square blocks!The 5 Bells - one of the original Moody pubs - is still in business today. We consider it our local when we visit our “home town”!
