Helga was born in Norway and came to the United States as a young girl and worked in Texas. Several years after their marriage, she and Ole moved to a farm in the Town of Russell, Bayfield County, Wisconsin. When Ole’s health failed, they moved to Bayfield, Wisconsin. She spent her last several years living with her daughter, Inga Hassing, in Minneapolis. Her brother, Otto Beck, was alive in Norway on 6 April 1973.1931

He immigrated alone from Lillihammer, Norway to the United States via Galveston, Texas in 1905. Using the Norwegian patronymic system, he would have been Ole Olson, but took the name of his Norwegian farm, Bakke. His wife, Helga Beck, emigrated later. They lived in Texas, then moved to Bayfield, Wisconsin and had a farm and cows. 1919
