He moved from Hadley to Amherst with his father Jonathan’s family in 1739-1745.
®1658 He was listed as an Amherst settler from 1745-1763.
®1717 “Between the years 1745 and 1763 the following persons were added to the population: Asahel Moody.”
®778 He lived in that part of Hadley which in 1775 was incorporated as the District of Amherst. “His house stood about one fourth of a mile in a south-east direction from that of his brother, Jonathan and on the east side of the road, which runs parallel with the one where his brother resided. The plot of ground descends gradually to the north. He and his wife were members of the Church in Amherst and were received Jun 9th 1763.”
®408 ®1718 He served from Amherst as an enlisted soldier in the Sixth French and Indian War of 1755-62.
®1719 From 24 January to 30 November, 1757 he and Jonathan were members of Colonel Williams' regiment stationed at Charlemont during the siege of Fort William Henry.
®778 He was also a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and his official service follows: "Asahel Moody, Amherst, Private, Capt. Reuben Dickinson's Co., Col. Porter's regt.; return for equipments, dated Nov. 9, 1775; also list of men appearing on a credit bill of Capt. Reuben Dickinson's Company (year not given) said Moody was credited with 2 months service."
