Misc. Notes
“Mr. Reuben Moody commenced studies with reference to the Gospel Ministry under the tuition of Rev. Nathan Perkins of Amherst, Mass. His name appears on the records of that church (East Amherst) dated 2 Nov 1823 at which time he was admitted as member by certificate. He had previous to this time been employed as Missionary awhile on the islands in Boston Harbor. His health, however, declined and he made his Will 3 Nov 1824 in which after bequeathing a few articles such as books, etc. to his brothers and sister, he concludes thus: The residue of my estate, I give and bequeath to the Treasurer of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions for the use of the board in extending the blessing of the Gospel among the heathen, to be paid over to the Treasurer the first of April 1826. He wrote but one sermon and that he was not permitted to preach.”
®408 He died unmarried at age 35.
