Misc. Notes
He settled in Farmington, Connecticut, at the time of his marriage. The house he built and which he occupied as a dwelling was about one half mile north of the Farmington Meeting House. It stood near the end of the main street being on the north side of the road which leads from Hartford to Albany, so called and about twelve rods west of the intersection of the above mentioned roads. The old well yet remains indicative of the spot and a house erected several years ago near it’s site, the present residence of Pomeroy Strong, Esq. Mr. Moody owned considerable real estate in land, but he followed chiefly the trade of a blacksmith. He is said to have take a voyage on the sea for recovery of his health, which was somewhat impaired, and that the vessel in which he sailed was wrecked in a storm and that all on board perished. Such is the testimony of a grand-daughter of the above as she received it from her grand-mother, wife of the deceased. He died leaving a large estate, the Inventory of which was taken March 24, 1748-9 equalling in amount, as things were then valued 1132 - 7 - 00 which after payment of debts equalled 1108 - 3 - 0 and was divided thus. To the window 87 - 1 -0, To eldest son Samuel 510 - 11 - 0 in real estate, To youngest son Zimri 255 - 11 - 6, To daughter Irene 288 - 5 - 6 in movables & land. Letters of administration on his estate was granted to Anna his widow, June 5th 1774, hence he probably d. in the Spring of 1744, aged 37. His widow, married David Porter of Farmington, Conn. and afterwards married a Mr. Lewis. She died in the year of 1806 at the house of her son William Porter, child of her second husband and was aged 94.” ®408
