Notes for Zimri MOODY
“Mr. Moody, settled in Woodbury, Conn. on the homestead of Gideon Walker, Esq. The house in which he lived yet remains and is in good condition. It is situated a short distance north of the residence of his brother Samuel, being on the north side of the second road, which leads east to Middlebury, Conn. and a few rods from the corner. He was a carpenter and joiner by trade, but during the last years of his life, his sight so failed as to render him nearly or quite blind. Yet by practice, peculiar to those in such circumstances, he was enabled by use of his cane to travel the pleasant streets of Woodbury and mingle in social intercourse as formerly. He served in the Revolutionary War, as appears from the History of Ancient Woodbury, by Wm. Cothrin, Esq., p 784, but when and how long I am not informed. All his children were born in Woodbury and from the fact that the baptisms of some of them are noted; I conclude that he or his wife or both were members of the church in that place.”607 He was in the Revolutionary War on the Springfield, Massachusetts list.418
