She was probably aged 20 at the time of her father's will of 25 Sept 1575. 101She was unmarried on 8 Aug 1616 at the writing of her mother’s will. Mary was left money by her father’s will of 1575 only under condition that she marry with the consent of her mother. She seems to have found this requirement impossible to meet, as she was still unmarried some 40 years later in 1616. This condition, in that it was stated in such a way as to apply only to Mary, implied that she may have been seeing a man of whom her parents disapproved, or at least that her father did not have great confidence in her ability to choose an acceptable husband. She may have been the Mary Chenery who was buried in Fordham 17 September 1625.101
