In the time between 1850-1900 Dalsland experienced a wave of emigration, mainly small scale farmers trying to flee poverty and famine. The number of people leaving Dalsland for Norway or America was estimated at 64,000. Otto emigrated to Pennsylvania in the United States of America in 1881 at age 23. 908 He worked in the coal mines. They married on 3 September 1881 in DuBois, Pennsylvania and their first child, Charles was born there on 27 March 1882.908 They had moved to Silver Creek, Michigan by 16 January 1884 when Albert was born and Otto became a naturalized United States citizen on 27 May 1885.243. They moved to Ashland, Wisconsin in 1887 where Otto became engaged in logging. They opened a Swedish boarding house for lumberjacks, the Otto Anderson Hotel, which on 1 June 1900 had sixteen boarders at 609 St. Clair Street, Ashland, Wisconsin.249 908 ON 15 April 1910 they had moved to Sanborn, Wisconsin, where Otto was the walking? boss of a cord wood camp.909He died on the farm at Andersonville , Sanborn Avenue, Ashland, Wisconsin in 1914 at age 56 years. 244

Did he die in 1928? There are two Högsäter’s in the Swedish Gazetteer in the approximate area: 1) is a locality near Färgelanda in Dalsland län , and 2), a built up area in Eda in Värmland län . 251 Soken means parish.
Notes for Stina Maja "Marie” (Spouse 1)
Soken means parish. Or is on Lake Orsjon about half way between Högsäter and Mellerud. She emigrated to the United States on 27 June 1881. She returned to Sweden for the birth of their third child, Selma Olive on 1 June 1886. She became a naturalized United States citizen in 1887.243 They moved to Ashland, Wisconsin in 1887. On the 15 April 1910 census she had 8 children of whom 7 were still alive.909 She died on the farm of her son Frank in Sanborn, Wisconsin in 1919. 244
