Notes for Nathaniel’s Wife Thankful MOODY
She may have died in Guilford, Connecticut. 607
Notes for Nathaniel (Spouse 1)
Guilford, Massachusetts was settled in 1639 and named in 1643. He settled in Guildford and Harwinton, Connecticut. 607 This family came to Harwinton from Guilford, Connecticut. 418 “By distribution of his father’s estate he received one half of the property in Hartland, which place or rather township had been sold by the State to the inhabitants of Hartford and Windsor. It appears, however, that he lived some years in Guilford, Conn. where his children were born, and where his wife must have died. After her decease, he lived awhile in Harwinton as is proved by records in that town; The page from ill-use is considerably mutilated, but it contains the christian name of his wife with time of her decease and the names and ages of his children with the statement that they were born in Guilford. I find no further trace of him or his descendants except from tradition. It is said that from Harwinton, he went to live with his oldest daughter, who had settled with her husband in Farmington, Conn.”607
