Notes for Nehemiah (Spouse 1)
“They settled in Farmington, Conn. where he worked at the trade f a tailor, some years. Tradition affirms ‘he went to visit a relative ‘out west’ or ‘perhaps in Canada’, and was murdered for his money.’ His horse and boots were founds and identified and that his wife and two sons and two daughters were then living in Farmington, Conn. A letter from Towanda, Pa., bearing date Jan 1, 1857 contains the following: ‘Mr. Street was murdered at Niagara, C. W. He had with him some 1500 dollars in money and a watch. The watch was found; the body was found by some Indians. It is affirmed that Mr. Street traded extensively with the Indians, bought and drove cattle to Albany, New York and acquired considerable wealth. He died sometime in 1789-90.”
