“He attended the district school until eleven years of age, when he was compelled to leave home and go to work. He spent two years at South Dartmouth, attending school winters. He then removed to Lawrence and entered the Oliver grammar school where he received double promotion and was graduated in the class of 1881, being then admitted to the high school. He later attended Phillips Academy, and served as an assistant Y. M. C. A. secretary on year at Lawrence. He worked three years as night operator and night agent on the Boston and Lowell railroad, then spent three years with the New Home Sewing Machine Company at Orange, meanwhile studying theology. He served six years as a supply in the East Maine conference, and built a church in his first charge. Mr. Moody was ordained a deacon in 1894 at Houlton, Me., and as an elder in 1898 at Bangor, Me. In 1899 he was appointed to supply at South Worthington.” ®5797
