He was born in Ashfield but had moved to South Hadley by 1783 at age 6 with his parents. He lived in South Hadley in 1794 and at the time of his marriage to Electa 12 January 1803. ®687 [In his will dated 21 March 1817 and proved 4 Nov. 1817, Electa’s grandfather, Daniel Smith of Belchertown, left “the farm on which I now live,” two 50-acre lots and the Seven Mile Brook lot, as well as a fourth of a pew on the lower floor of the east corner of the Congregational meeting house in Belchertown and all personal estate not left to Daniel’s wife Catherine, to Heman Moody of South Hadley.] ®5997Heman’s wife, Electa, moved from the church in South Hadley, Rev. Joel Hayes, Pastor, to the Congregational Church in Belchertown in 1819. ®1250 Heman was also a communicant of the Congregational Church of Belchertown. “Heman Moody, son of Josiah Moody formerly of South Hadley. For the last years of his life he (Josiah) resided here (Belchertown) with this son. Heman died 1826 age 48.” ®1250, ®73 He died in 1826 at age 47 ®687 while the widow Electa lived in Belchertown until 30 Dec 1868. ®903 Heman and Electa were second cousins as their grandfathers were brothers, sons of Capt. Ebenezer and Editha Moody. ®8
