Notes for Mary Polly (Spouse 1)
“The 1840 census of Coweta County, Georgia lists Mary Right about 35 years old as head of household. It is believed that Caswell got into trouble with the law and left to go further west. It had something to do with the youngest son who was evidently at least partially lame. There was trouble
at school and Caswell evidently beat up the school teacher and was afraid he might go to jail if he did not leave. He wanted all the family to leave, but his wife did not want to and so she and the children stayed. One daughter either married or died between 1830 and 1840.”485
