In 1938 she graduated from Ely High School ad attended Ely Junior College for one year. The lived in Ely from their marriage in 1940 until 1952 when they moved to Two Harbors, Minnesota where they lived for 51 years. After Stanley died in 2003 she moved to Ashland, Wisconsin to be with her family. She had nine siblings.
