On 1 June 1900 Lee Benton was a single, 27 year old soldier in foreign service who lived with his widowed 59 year old mother, and single siblings Edgar, 20 and Laura, 13 in the district known as Pattersonville in Cheboygan County, Michigan. 1396 On 15 April 1910 Lee E. Benton, a 37 year old light house keeper lived on Fourth Street in Bayfield, Wisconsin with his wife Anna J., 30 and son Harold J., age 3. They had been married 4 years and had one child, still living. His parent’s birthplaces were unknown.1372 On 12 September 1918 Lee Ellsworth Benton was a 45 year old lighthouse keeper on Raspberry Island. He, his wife and one child under 12 lived at Box 485, Bayfield, Wisconsin. He had served as a boatswain in the U. S. Navy in the Spanish American War. He was of medium height, slender, with blue eyes and partly grey hair.1131 On 1 January 1920 Lee E.
