On 1 November 1857 the 8 siblings lived with their parents on a farm in Township 28, Washington County, Minnesota.1680 All eight children were alive when their father died on 16 October 1864.761On 1 June 1870 Hortensia, 14, lived with her mother Catharina, 49, and brother Godfrey, 21, both born in Sweden. Godfrey was a farmer and supported his mother and other siblings, Elizabeth, 18, Adolph, 13, and Oscar, 9, in Afton, Minnesota. 1679 On 1 May 1875 E. C. Peterson, 54, lived in Saint Paul Ward 4, Ramsey County, Minnesota with Oscar, 14, Adolph, 18, and Hortence, 20, and 2 boarders. 1526Hortense was born in Minnesota and both parents were born in Sweden. Hortensia and Howard Hill were married in 1877. 1500They had 2 children at home on 1 Jun 1880. 1493Hortense was born in Minnesota, her father in Sweden and her mother in New York. By 1 April 1900 she had borne 5 children with 3 surviving. She and Howard had been married 23 years.1492 By 15 April 1910 Hortense was 54 and had borne 5 children of whom 2 were alive and lived with their parents; Hazel R., 23 and Victor C., 16. Her brother, Gottfred Peterson and her sister in law, Ruth Miller lived with them.1494 On 1 June 1920 Hortense C. was 64. No children lived with Hortense and Howard, and Hortense parents had both been born in Sweden.1495 On 1 April 1930 Hortense C. Hill, a 74 year old widow lived alone at 251 Baldwin Avenue, Sierra Madre City, Los Angeles County, California. She owned her home worth $30,000 which was next door to her son-in-law and daughter, George B. and Hazel R. Morgridge.1501 She died on 9 September 1947.448 On 1 April 1940 Hortense C. Hill, a widow of 84, lived alone in a house she owned worth $2500 at 251 South Baldwin, Monrovia, Los Angeles County, California. George, Hazel and Howard Morgridge lived around the corner at 19 Orange Grove. 1669 Hortense died on 9 September 1947.448

He had been born in New York. 1497 Howard lived with his parents and 4 siblings in Lysander, New York on 1 June 1860. 1498 On 1 June 1870 Howard was a 23 year old single farmer who lived with his mother, Elizabeth, 48, and 3 brothers Isaac, 19, Franklin, 14, and Charles, 10, in Marine, Washington County, Minnesota. No father, George or Mary are listed.1496On 1 June 1880 Howard Hill was a 30 year old builder who lived on Jessamine Street in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Both his parents had been born in New York. He lived with his wife Hortense, 24, whose parents had both been born in Sweden, and children Robert, 2, and Mary, 10 months of age.1493 On 18 May 1885 Howard Hill was 38 years old and lived in the Fifth Ward of Saint Paul, Minnesota with Hortense, 30, Robert, 7, and Mary, 5. His brother Isaac, 34, lived with them.1504 Howard Hill is not on the 1895 Minnesota Census and may have moved with his family to California prior to 1895. By 1896 he was a registered voter in Los Angeles, California. 1499On 1 April 1900 Howard Hill, a 52 year old carpenter who had been married to Hortense for 23 years lived on a farm he owned, without a mortgage, at 1600 39th Street, City of Los Angeles, California. He had been born in New York, but both of his parents had been born in England. He lived with Hortense, 42, Robert A., 22, Hazel, 12, Victor, 6, and an aunt Ruth Miller, 62. Olive Thompson was a boarder.1492 On 15 April 1910 Howard Hill, 63, born in New York, whose parents had both been born in New York, lived on Grandin Avenue in Pasadena, California. He was retired and lived on his own income with his wife of 33 years, Hortense, 54, who had born 5 children of whom Hazel R., 23, and Victor C. 16, were still alive and lived with them. Also living with them were Ruth Miller, aunt, single and 77, born in New York and brother-in-law Gottfred Peterson, 60, single, born in Sweden, who had emigrated in 1850 and was a house carpenter.1494 On 1 June 1920 Howard Hill, 73 and retired lived in a rented home at 29 West Live Oak Avenue in Pasadena Township, City of Sierra Madre, Los Angeles County, California with his wife Hortense C., 64, and a boarder, William G. Morgridge, 51. Howard’s parents were both born in New York and Hortense’ parents were both born in Sweden.1495 Howard died in 1923.761
