Among the hotel guests were Luana Cartright, sister in law, 44, born in New Hampshire with her father born in Vermont and mother in New Hampshire. She was 44, born April 1856 and had been married a second time 2 years before as she had 7 children, all still alive. Louella Calkins, a 20 year old single niece born Jun 1880 in Wisconsin worked as a servant at the hotel. She had been born in Wisconsin, her father in English Canada and mother in New Hampshire. A second niece, Jenny Calkins, 13, born Dec 1886 was at school. She was born in South Dakota, her father in English Canada and mother in New Hampshire. A guest at the hotel was Roy Soper, 21, single, born Oct 1878 in Wisconsin. He worked as a teamster, his father was born in New York and mother in French Canada.

On 1 June 1880 Jennie Walter, 11, born in Wisconsin lived on a farm in Dekorra, Wisconsin with his parents Isaac H. Walter, 60 and Ruth A. Walter, 47. A stepbrother, Willie, 19, and brother Frank, 14, and Byron, 10, lived with them, and all went to school.
