Notes for Justus George (Spouse 1)
On 25 July 1870 an unnamed male Luick was age 6 months and lived in and was probably born in Bowling Green, Ohio.2420 On 17 June 1880 George J. Luick was age 10 and lived with his parents and 3 siblings in Jackson, Ohio.2421 In 1895 Louis Luick lived in the Village of Bayfield, Wisconsin. His household consisted of 3 males and 3 females, 4 born in America and 2 in Germany .2437 From 1 June 1900 until his death George was known as Justus . On 1 June 1900, Justice Luick, age 30, born December 1869 in Ohio, lived in a house on 7th Street in Bayfield, Wisconsin, next door to his parents Lewis and Anna Luick. He worked as a delivery clerk in a store, and lived with his wife Ura , born July 1883 in Minnesota and their daughter Hazel, born the previous month, probably in Bayfield. 1119 “Old Dick, a big black stallion, was the delivery horse and Mr. Luick the delivery man for many years. They were certainly an important part of Bayfield at that time. In summer when the flies were bad, Dick wore a net for protection, but the flies bit his legs until he couldn’t be trusted to stand withut being tied. So Mr. Luick took two pairs of overalls and made him pants, and with a straw hat with his ears sticking through, he made quite a picture, but he was much more comfortable. Mr. Luick made the rounds of the regular customers early each morning to take their daily orders. When he returned to the store, everyone available was very busy until those orders were put up and he was back on his rounds. Every housewife must have her supplies in time for her noon dinner.” 652 On 21 July 1904 “Justis [sic] Luick was taken to a hospital in Ashland last evening suffering from a severe attack of pneumonia. His condition is critical”. 2521By 1 June 1905 the family of Justice Luick, a 35 year old farmer, Ova Luick, 22, and Hazel Luick, 5, had moved to Mason, Bayfield County, Wisconsin. 2425 On 8 November 1905 Justus G.
