Florence Skovald, daughter of Mrs. Marie T. Skavold is the only Skavold who attended the Bayfield Schools and she would have graduated in 1922. She moved to Superior, Wisconsin and graduated from Superior Central High School.
In 1924 Florence E. Skovald, 20, was a musician who lived with her widowed mother Marie, 63, and 5 siblings at 1322 Ogden Avenue, Superior, Wisconsin.
On 1 April 1930 Florence Skovald, 26, single, born in Wisconsin lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Leslie Pryor, 32, and Ida Pryor, 35 at their home at 2213 John Street, Superior, Wisconsin. Also living with the Pryor’s was Marie Pryor’s widowed mother, Marie Skovald, 68 and her children Edward Skovald, 41, Arthur Skovald, 31, and Ingeborg Skovald, 36. Florence was a pianist, a violinest, actress and model in the entertainment business. She played and sang for orchestras and bands in the Duluth-Superior area, and at one time managed and was a disc jockey for radio station WEBC in Duluth, Minnesota. Miss Skovald later went to Hollywood where she played bit parts in several movies. In 1965 she retired from Hollywood to Flint, Michigan, and in 1974 moved back to Bayfield. She lived alone in the Vorous house on the south east corner of Second Street and Rice Avenue. In 1988 she moved to the Northern Lights Manor Nursing Home in Washburn, where she died in 1992.
Both Iver and Marie T. Skavold had been born in Norway. Florence was preceeded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Florence lived in Hollywood, California when her mother died in Duluth on 18 Sep 1938.
Florence lived in Flint, Michigan on 1 June 1974 when Vaughn Vorous died.
