1900 US Census clearly spells Skavold for Iver, Marie and all seven children.
Skovold is the spelling on his gravestone in Bayfield’s Greenwood Cemetery.
On 5 June 1917, Edward Bernard Skovold, born 10 August 1887 in Clear Lake, Polk County, Wisconsin registered for the WWI draft. He lived in the 4th Ward of Bayfield, Wisconsin and worked repairing engines for the Wachsmuth Lumber Company. He was single, tall and slender with blue eye and dark brown hair.
Edward B. Skovold was a private in the US Army in World War I. He enlisted on 11 February 1918 and was honorably discharged on 30 December 1918. His serial number was 872668. His headstone application was dated 14 April 1941 and signed by his sister, Laura J. Vorous, so he died prior to that date.
In 1924 Edward B. Skovald, 37, was an engineer with Great Lakes Coal and Dock Company who lived with his widowed mother Marie, 63, and 5 siblings at 1322 Ogden Avenue, Superior, Wisconsin.
On the 1 April 1930 US Census of Superior, Leslie, 32, and Ida, 35, Pryor had taken possession of the family home at 2213 John Street which they rented for $30 a month. Marie Skovald, 68, and 4 of her children still live at home; Edward Skovald, 41, Arthur Skovald, 31, Ingebord Skovald, 36 and Florence Skovald, 26. Albert and Harold have left home.
Edward B. lived in Superior, Wisconsin when his mother died on 18 Sep 1938.
