On 1 June 1880 Joseph LaPoint, a 39 year old laborer lived in the Village of Bayfield, Wisconsin with his wife Harriet, 39, and children Mary, 16, Susan, 14, Joseph, 11, George W., 9, Alfred, 7, William, 4 and Hattie, 10 months of age. All had been born in Wisconsin except for Joseph and Harriet’s fathers who had been born in Canada.
