Research notes for Joseph Clark EVE SR.
There is no Milford in Jefferson County, only in Baker County in southwest Georgia. No other Eve’s lived in Georgia in 1820. Where did they live?
Notes for Jane Martin (Spouse 1)
She was very beautiful. On 18 June 1820 Miss Jane Ringland and Mrs. Mary Martin became members of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, Georgia. 266 On 20 September 1833 Mrs. Eve transfers to the Methodist Church. 266"Another dear friend of mine was Jane Ringland, a niece of Mr. Carmichaels and who married Joseph Eve, a nephew of Fathers. They lived in Augusta and raised four children. She had great strength of character and good judgements and taught me many valuable lessons. She is one of the few living of my contemporaries and we love to meet and talk of our days of happiness and our day of sorrow when we sang to sister Betsy on her deathbed." 424 Mrs. Emma Eve Smith . Her husband died in Augusta in 1838. On 1 June 1840 she is 38, widowed and the head of her household in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. Research notes for Jane Martin (Spouse 1)
Why did she move to Milledgeville after her husband died in 1838, from Augusta where she had spent her whole life up until then. All the other 5 Eve households remained in Augusta, and John P. Eve lived in Jefferson County in 1940.
