She was very beautiful. On 18 June 1820 Miss Jane Ringland and Mrs. Mary Martin became members of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, Georgia. ®129 On 20 September 1833 Mrs. Eve transfers to the Methodist Church. ®129"Another dear friend of mine was Jane Ringland, a niece of Mr. Carmichaels and who married Joseph Eve, a nephew of Fathers. They lived in Augusta and raised four children. She had great strength of character and good judgements and taught me many valuable lessons. She is one of the few living of my contemporaries and we love to meet and talk of our days of happiness and our day of sorrow when we sang to sister Betsy on her deathbed." ®1893 Mrs. Emma Eve Smith (1798 - 1882). Her husband died in Augusta in 1838. On 1 June 1840 she is 38, widowed and the head of her household in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. Living with her are Joseph Clark, John C., Emma Henrietta, Mary Isabell, and one white male 30-40 years of age. ®1903 On 25 May 1851 she is a widow confirmed as a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Augusta, Georgia. ®129 ®118 Her daughter Mary Isabel and son in law John S. Wright do not become confirmed until 21 May 1854. On the 1852 census of the City of Augusta she is the head of her household in the First Ward consisting of 3 males, 3 females, 2 females 6 to 15, and one male and one female slave. ®1904In 1859 she is a widow and resides at 269 Broad, Augusta, Georgia with her daughter and son-in-law, the John S. Wrights. ®1866 She is probably living in the same location as her daughter Mary Isabel Wright on 21 March 1863. "I had the great happiness of my grandmother’s companionship until long past my maturity” wrote Sarah Laura Wright, who was born in 1848. ®99 On the 1860 census of Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia she is widowed, a teacher, and lives with her daughter Mary Isabel, and Mary Isabel's husband John S. Wright. Also living with them are Mary’s six children and Mary’s sister, Emma Henrietta Eve. ®1857On the 1870 census she is living in Augusta with her daughter Mary, husband John S. Wright, their children Harriet, Sarah, William and Louisa, ®1857and her son John Eve. ®124 She died at age 76. ®1859
Research
Why did she move to Milledgeville after her husband died in 1838, from Augusta where she had spent her whole life up until then. All the other 5 Eve households remained in Augusta, and John P. Eve lived in Jefferson County in 1940.

He was probably born on Cat Island in the Bahamas. He was his parent's oldest son. ®1891 He died as a young man, leaving his wife and four children, one of which was Mary Isabel Eve. ®99 They had had seven children. He was in the War of 1812 - he enlisted in 1814 for 14 days in Capt. Musgrove, Glascock, Montgomery or Johnston’s Georgia militia. His wife was denied a pension in 1881. He died at age 46. ®1891
"12 Joseph Clark Eve - He was born about 1793 either in the Bahamas or Georgia. He died in 1838 in Jefferson Co Georgia. His father was William EVE (4)
He married on the 26th Jan 1825 in Richmond County, Georgia. He had the following children:
• Joseph Clark Eve (22) - He was born about 1830. He married Anne Pearsall. He died between 1880-5 in San Marcos Hayes Co Texas.
• Emma Eve (40)- born July 1830. She never married.
• Mary Eve
• Louisa Eve
Joseph Eve lived in Richmond County in 1820 and was the only Eve in Georgia on that census. ®1896

There is no record of Joseph C Eve in Georgia census records after 1830 as he died in 1838.

There is a record of a Joseph C Eve being successful in a land lottery in 1827

There is no Milford in Jefferson County, only in Baker County in southwest Georgia. No other Eve’s lived in Georgia in 1820. Where did they live?
